Text-based adventures

We began our skill spine session exploring browser based text adventure game, A Dark Room. Those of us who hadn’t played any text-based games were introduced to the concept and then we got to try building our own with Twine.

It was quite simple to create, using only basic HTML but there seems to be a lot of room for creativity. I play a lot of visual novels and this style of gameplay is essentially the same, as well as with the choose your own adventure books I used to read as a kid.
As I thought more about my game I was coming up with several concepts insipired by an artist I am researching for my Places and spaces DMS project (@lunarelles). It reminded me a lot of my favorite webcomic Homestuck but also was very reminiscent of the Ted the Caver creepypasta and I am definitely thinking of continuing this game at some point.
